Welcome to Canadian Lakes Combined Chorus

The Canadian Lakes Mens Chorus and the Melody Makers have temporarily disbanded until new directors can be found.

I have been approached by multiple people asking what we can to do in the meantime to continue experiencing the joy of group singing.  This website is for a new Canadian Lakes Combined Chorus (men and women) that will sing together without a formal director.

We will practice together on a weekly basis (Mondays 3 to 5 or 6 PM at the Alpine Haus)  We will plan for a Summer 2025 performance (Doo Wop tunes from the 50's) and a 2025 Christmas performance (traditional favorites).  Performing 8-10 songs in each performance and possibly adding some audience sing-alongs.  Some songs may be performed by a subset of the larger group.

All music selected for the new group will have practice tracks for each of the parts.   Singers are expected to choose the part that best fits the range of their voice and use the practice track provided to learn that part.  At our weekly practices we will put the parts together and appoint a member to lead us in that song.

On this website you will find an example of a Doo Wop song (Sh-Boom / Life Could be a Dream) and the practice tracks that will be provided.  A complete set of practice tracks for a song costs $50.   In addition music score sheets cost approximately another $25.   So cost to the group per song is about $75.   There will be a $20 membership fee collected per performance to help pay for these costs.   We can also collect about $200 (about what we averaged from past concerts) per performance by asking for 'free will donations'.

I need to know if there is sufficient interest in this endeavor for me to expend the effort of going forward with it.  We will need at least 20 or more singers and some with musical training to attempt it.  So please respond to me using the contact page provided below if you are interested.   Most of the songs we will select are available in multiple formats (TTBB, SATB, SAB, SA, TTB etc.)  Once we know who will be joining we can select the appropriate format for the mixture of voices we have in the new group.

So check out the sample song provided below and let me know if you are interested.

Look forward to hearing from you!!
